Prepare For Success One Day at a Time

Do you ever get overwhelmed and don't know where to begin? I do!

I am sure you have heard of setting short term goals to reach a bigger long term goal and I agree with this approach. Breaking down big goals or obstacles into smaller approachable tasks can help you focus on a starting point. Staying motivated however can be the trick to reaching your ultimate goal. It often requires a few more puzzle pieces. Read on to find out how to complete the smaller goals and avoid those daily distractions.

One major motivator is having a distant vision. Like a dream but something that is based in reality that you can clearly see. For example, imagine sitting on a beach in a tropical location wearing your favorite dress or hiking a big mountain that requires a plane ride and physical training to complete. Sometimes a vision is just mastering an art or learning a new skill. Once your vision is set it is time to create your support group. Who is going to help you along the way and why do you even want to begin. What is the big deal anyway?

If you truly value your vision it is the primary link to your motivation. Ask yourself, why do you value your vision, and make sure your goals align with those values too. Create a support group to help make those daily tasks easier to complete. I value nature and the great outdoors! Exploring is a motivation for me to get outside and walk, hike or jog a new path. When I walk with my family or friends I enjoy the experience even more. Invite friends to come with you. Create a support system of people who will keep you accountable and even make the journey more fun. No one has to do it alone. You just need to tell people about your plan and you might be surprised who volunteers to jump on board. Even if your friends and family are not a part of your vision they can still hold you accountable. At the very least they will cheer you on along the way.

Challenges will always present themselves. If you can anticipate a few, come up with a plan for how you will handle them. Tackling the challenge preemptively can bring down any barriers or fear you may carry. Also focus on your strengths to help you overcome any road blocks. You won't get hung up for too long and if something arises that you didn't anticipate just revisit those strengths, values and support group to help navigate the new obstacle. Keep the momentum going and know that we occasionally run into walls that just need to be broken down. Discover the right tool to climb over or take the long road around, but keep focused on your vision each day and it will arrive.

Are you creative? Then make yourself a vision board to focus your energy each day. Non creatives and Type A Personalities get out that pen and paper to describe your goals and list those values and strengths! Each day you can choose to become the person you want to be, but it requires a little imagination, a lot of focus and some support from those you trust the most. As a fitness coach I work with people all the time to help them stay the coarse. It is possible to be your own coach with the right tools, but if you need help just reach out and I would love to join your team.
